Streamer Dr Disrespect voiced his frustrations with the battle royale Apex Legends, calling the game boring and vowing that he was done playing.
Famous streamer Dr Disrespect is no stranger to Apex Legends. Having made his name playing battle royales including PUBG, Warzone, and Apex Legends, Dr Disrespect has a love/hate relationship with Respawn Entertainment’s shooter. After recently returning to Apex Legends, however, it seems that his time playing may be cut short.
Despite his wide following, Dr Disrespect has certainly had a checkered past with regards to streaming and gaming. He was famously banned from streaming on Twitch after briefly leaving the platform to stream on Mixer. He has also repeatedly criticized shooters in the Call of Duty series, which he used to work on as a level designer. While his larger-than-life persona and over-the-top stunts have drawn in plenty of viewers, most respect Dr Disrespect’s skill in shooters and his knowledge of the genre. Dr Disrespect previously left Apex Legends, citing frustrations regarding the gameplay and balance, before a recent return.
However, in his recent return on Youtube, Dr Disrespect has clearly reached his breaking point with regards to Apex Legends. As reported by Dexerto, during the stream Dr Disrespect grows increasingly more and more agitated. After an early death, Dr Disrespect comments about how powerful shields are in Apex Legends, citing them as one of the major reasons that he doesn’t play the game. “It’s boring,” he concludes after ranting about the shields. This boredom appears to continue throughout the session, as Dr Disrespect later jokes that he might read e-mails while playing on his other monitor, repeating that he is uninterested in the game. At the end of the stream, though, this boredom morphs into anger, with Dr Disrespect saying “I’m bored. I want to uninstall it right now, and I don’t want to play the game ever again.”
While this could simply be an instance of a streamer blowing off steam after a frustrating round of gaming, Dr Disrespect is surely not the only Apex Legends player with frustrations about the state of the game. Plenty of Apex Legends players have voiced their own frustrations with regards to the state of the game’s balance. Certain heroes and perks have been over-nerfed or left in an overpowered state for far too long. Of course, the most frustrating issues in Apex Legends are the glitches and exploits, although Respawn has typically been quite good at patching those out or banning abusers.
Regardless, it seems Dr Disrespect’s issue is more with the pace of play than a hacker or OP gun. Although the developers tend to be quite supportive of their players, clearly more can be done to make Apex Legends the definitive battle royale. Whether Dr Disrespect will still be around to play when the issues of Apex Legends are fixed, though, remains to be seen.
Apex Legends is available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and it will launch on iOS and Android in 2022.
