Matthew Robinson has been hired to pen the script for filmmaker Patty Jenkins’ “Star Wars: Rogue Squadron” film which is due out Christmas 2023 from Disney and Lucasfilm.
The film will loosely be based on the “X-Wing” novels that were released between 1996-2012 and shows the ushering in of a new generation of X-wing pilots trying to earn their wings. Plot and character specifics are under wraps.
Robinson made his screenwriting and co-directing debut with 2009’s “The Invention of Lying”. He also wrote 2019’s “Dora and the Lost City of Gold,” last year’s well regarded “Love and Monsters,” and is working on both the “Edge of Tomorrow” sequel and the new “Little Shop of Horrors” adaptation.
Pre-production on “Rogue Squadron” begins this Fall for a 2022 shoot ahead of a December 22nd 2023 release.
