“What We Do in the Shadows” creators Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi have a new action-adventure comedy TV series in the works.
The pair starred in the original ‘Shadows’ film and executive produce the FX series spin-off. They also produced seasons of the series spin-off “Wellington Paranormal” while Waititi has directed several films lately including the recently wrapped “Thor: Love and Thunder” for Marvel Studios.
Speaking with EW, Clement says the pair are working on a new series right now which they just started writing. He can’t say much yet but adds he gets to do something he hasn’t done before:
What’s fun about it and what makes it exciting for me is it’s something I always wanted to do which is long-form episodes in a sitcom. It’s an action-adventure comedy. It’ll be different from what I’ve usually done. I’ve made three sitcoms now, and I hope this one is still funny but more of an adventure series.”
He also says don’t expect more ‘Shadows’ spin-offs despite discussion of it in the past as “I don’t know how realistic it is”. He also reveals they’ve paused “Wellington Paranormal” for now as they’re not sure it’ll be back for a fifth season.
